Pushy Mums in your area

Why not get some friends together and organise a short walk in your area? It's really simple to do:

Another successful Pushy Mums walk

Pushy Mums private group

  1. Find some friends you want to walk with
  2. Agree a route - we suggest not longer than one hour's walking.
  3. Email pushymums@savethechildren.org.uk who will supply balloons and flyers
  4. Take a picture of your group and send it to pushymums@savethechildren.org.uk
  5. Donate monies collected to Save the Children. You can either do this online at www.justgiving.com/pushymums or fill out the form you will receive with your pack and send it with a cheque to:
    Save the Children
    1 St John's Lane
    London
    EC1M 4AR
  6. Put Pushy Mums in your diary for next year.

Pushy Mums public group

As for above but also:

  1. Tell as many mums as you can - put up a flyer at your local NCT group, nurseries and/or cafes (download flyer: Word (41.5Kb) or PDF (21.7Kb))
  2. Contact local press and websites. Contact pushymums@savethechildren.org.uk for help with a press release.
  3. Contact us at pushymums@savethechildren.org.uk and we will post details of your walk on this site.

Note: If you plan to collect money along your route, you need to apply for a license from the Charity Collections Authorisation Department of your local police.

Additional (Optional) steps

  1. Organise something to entertain the kids - people in fancy dress, gingerbread men or a teddy bears' picnic
  2. Take along some red ribbon and safety pins - human sized, pram sized and railing sized to line your route (be sure to take them down afterwards of course)
  3. Contact local businesses to ask if they will sponsor you
  4. Make up a route map and fact sheet about AIDS orphans (see page - AIDS Orphans: The facts)

Finally, if you are going to have lots of people walking:
